- 2 squares unsweetened chocolate
- 1/2 stick butter
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
Method
- In the top of a double boiler over the heat water, melt chocolate and butter together. Remove from heat and add all remaining ingredients, blending thoroughly.
- Pour batter into a buttered 8-inch square cake pan and bake in preheated 350-degree oven for about 25-30 minutes. When a straw or knife poked into the center comes out clean, brownies are done.
- Let cool slightly, cut into squares, and remove with a spatula to a cake rack for further cooling.
